Rate Great Resources as ‘Helpful’

January 31, 2011

When you find a great resource on BetterLesson, mark it as helpful.  This lets the contributing educator, as well as the entire community, know that it’s a quality resource.  You’ll notice the “Is this helpful?” banner on the top right of every content page.

Helpfuls replace Likes as the BetterLesson metric for rating resources as high-quality.  We experimented with Likes, but they never quite fit the culture of curriculum-sharing like they have with photo- and status-sharing on Facebook.  We also considered going the five-star route, but after YouTube shared its data on the rating behavior of users and consequently decided to scrap the five-star system, we followed their wisdom and chose to come up with our own rating system.

Please let us know what you think.  Was this helpful? ;).
