Come Join Our Team! — Senior Program Director

September 24, 2012
BetterLesson.com, a social curriculum sharing site for teachers, is embarking on a large scale project to revolutionize teacher-to-teacher learning. We need to bring on a talented, inspired program director to take ownership of and oversee every aspect of the operation.

About the Position: The new BL team member will be in a senior position and should have the experience and talents to match. Basically, the project aims to support teacher-to-teacher learning by undertaking a large scale, content development and dissemination project. The Senior Program Manager (SPD) will take responsibility for the execution of this new program, reporting directly to a BL Co-Founder. The SPD will manage several BetterLesson FTEs, including two Project Associates, in addition to a team of consultants. The SPD will work with the BL Co-Founder to oversee all program strategy, with the BL CFO to manage the budget, and with the Project Associates to manage all execution and evaluation.

About you: The SPD must have spent considerable time in the education space (ideally both in the classroom and in coaching or teacher development roles), have 5+ years management experience, be a self-directed and diligent teammate, produce compelling verbal and written communication,  be comfortable working very hard in the service of a social mission, be detail-oriented but also able to participate in high-level strategy,  and be capable of working well and calmly within a fast-paced startup environment. Experience with curriculum and instruction will be very important for this role.

Nice to haves — not required: Experience managing large-scale grants, product development/management expertise, experience working to close the achievement gap, a solid sense of humor, background working with and managing teachers, ping pong skills, personal teaching or classroom experience, business development experience, a rapier wit, a sunny disposition. Oh- and a comfort with data …the SPD will be responsible for an evaluation component — so not hating math/stats would be a plus (though we have enough math geeks around that we can compensate if needed)!
TO APPLY: Please send CV and a brief-but-impressive note to jobs@betterlesson.com
