Subject: Geometry

School: Amsterdam High School

Location: Amsterdam, NY; USA

In her own words: “I am a math teacher, both at the high school and at the community college level. But of all the courses I teach, Geometry is my passion. Unlike most passions, however, mine just seems to grow stronger as I get to know to know Geometry better! I am also currently enrolled in a Leadership in Mathematics Education program at Bank Street College of Education, where I am a student immersed in the joys of learning mathematics through discovery; in my own classroom I am now working hard to incorporate this approach, hoping to ignite the passions of my students as well!.”

Beth was named YMCA Outstanding Teacher of the Year! Click here to read Amsterdam High’s write up!

In her principal’s words: “Mrs. Menzie is a capable instructor and a wonderful, caring person,” wrote Ziskin. “We are proud and very lucky to have this humble superstar in our midst at Amsterdam High School.”
